Job Description: DTN is seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Solutions Engineering Director to lead and grow our global team of industry- and sector-focused Solutions Engineers across Energy, Agriculture, and Weather. In this role, you will drive technical excellence, revenue impact, and customer value realization by shaping how our Solutions Engineering function supports go-to-market strategy. You will oversee a team of subject matter experts (SMEs) who partner closely with Sales, Product, and Engineering, guiding prospects and customers through complex enterprise sales cycles. As both a commercial and technical leader, you will set the vision for solution strategy, elevate solution storytelling, and ensure your team delivers compelling business outcomes for customers.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Pre-Sales roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Proven track record leading global or multi-sector Solutions Engineering teams in SaaS, enterprise software, or data platforms.
  • Demonstrated success driving measurable revenue impact through technical sales strategy.
  • Strong technical acumen with ability to design, present, and validate complex integrations and enterprise workflows.
  • Executive presence with outstanding communication skills; able to engage business and technical stakeholders alike.
  • Experience influencing product strategy and collaborating on go-to-market initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or related field required; advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Development Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing team of Solutions Engineers with deep vertical expertise in Energy, Agriculture, and Weather.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering technical depth, commercial acumen, and leadership readiness.
  • Establish global best practices for solution design, demo delivery, and ROI-driven value articulation.
  • Drive collaboration with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Marketing to ensure seamless execution across the customer lifecycle.
  • Commercial & Strategic Sales Enablement Define and execute the Solutions Engineering strategy to directly support global revenue growth.
  • Partner with Sales leadership to influence territory planning, account strategy, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure team delivers compelling business cases, ROI models, and solution recommendations tailored to executive decision makers.
  • Present at customer-facing events, industry forums, and executive briefings as a thought leader representing DTN.
  • Partner with Sales Ops to track the impact of Solutions Engineering on pipeline progression, deal velocity, and win rates.
  • Solution Strategy & Technical Innovation Translate customer requirements and evolving industry demands into scalable solution frameworks that leverage DTN’s platforms, APIs, and data services.
  • Partner with Product Management to influence roadmap priorities based on field insights and enterprise needs.
  • Lead innovation in solution packaging, integration design, and technical storytelling to differentiate DTN in the marketplace.
  • Oversee technical validation processes, including complex RFPs, RFIs, pilots, and compliance assessments.
  • Customer Engagement & Advocacy Serve as an executive sponsor and trusted advisor during strategic customer engagements, building credibility with C-level stakeholders.
  • Guide customers through digital transformation challenges related to ESG compliance, climate risk, supply chain disruptions, and operational efficiency.
  • Champion customer advocacy within DTN, ensuring voice-of-customer insights influence product and solution strategy.
  • Market & Industry Expertise Stay ahead of market trends, competitive intelligence, and regulatory shifts to shape DTN’s value positioning.
  • Ensure Solutions Engineers continuously expand both their technical proficiency and industry knowledge.
