About The Position

We are seeking a motivated Sales Representative to sell custom, architectural-grade wood products to customers and building industry professionals. This role focuses on delivering individualized, project-specific solutions while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients and developing new markets and sales opportunities. The Sales Representative works closely with the Vice President of Sales & Marketing and the Estimating Department throughout the bidding, estimating, and sales process.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of proven success selling custom products required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
  • Honest, persistent, flexible, and accountable for decisions and outcomes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple sales accounts simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with computers and basic calculations required.
  • Reliable attendance is essential.
  • Valid New York State driver’s license with a clean driving record required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Experience in the construction and/or manufacturing industries preferred.
  • Building construction knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and execute all aspects of customer relationship management and sales activities.
  • Manage customer communications from initial quotation through completed sale, including follow-ups with active prospects within 24 hours.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities through research, prospecting, and cold calling (architects, engineers, contractors, municipalities, planners, and private owners).
  • Maintain relationships with past customers to generate repeat business, referrals, and testimonials.
  • Travel as needed to visit prospects, customers, and the manufacturing facility.
  • Maintain and monitor sales tracking and reporting tools.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, prospects, customers, and external vendors.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Sales & Marketing to track progress and communications for large-scale bids and sales pursuits.
  • Assist with coordination of trucking and logistics for sold projects.
  • Review customer blueprints, understand design concepts, and become knowledgeable in approved shop drawings.
  • Conduct manufacturing plant tours for prospective clients.
  • Coordinate stain sample transmittals for prospective and active projects.
