We are seeking a proactive and strategic Sales Representative to drive new business opportunities by leveraging the existing manufacturing capabilities at our Temecula, California facility. This unique internal role is focused on identifying and securing business for our injection molding, thermoforming, and small sub-assembly assets. The primary objectives are to maximize asset utilization by generating new strategic revenue streams and identifying cost-saving opportunities by in-sourcing components that support our core brands. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong understanding of the SMG's product lineup and manufacturing processes, particularly injection molding. You will be responsible for building relationships with key internal stakeholders, as well as external partners, to identify and close strategic projects that align with our site's capabilities. What you'll do in this role: Business Development: Actively search for and evaluate potential new business opportunities that can be produced at the Temecula facility, focusing on injection molding, thermoforming, and small sub-assembly projects. External Outreach: Develop and maintain relationships with existing retail partners, adjacent companies, and potential new customers to secure external contract manufacturing business that fits our asset profile. Internal Collaboration: Work closely with Research and Development, Engineering, Brand, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to identify components currently produced externally that could be brought in-house to reduce costs and improve supply chain efficiency. Project Management: Lead the sales cycle from initial contact to project hand-off, including feasibility assessments, quoting, and technical discussions with internal and external stakeholders. Market Analysis: Stay informed on market trends and industry needs related to injection molding and related manufacturing technologies to proactively identify new opportunities. Performance Reporting: Track and report on key metrics, including asset utilization, new revenue and margin generated, and cost savings achieved. What you’ll need to be successful: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or engineering-related field preferred, but relevant job experience will be considered. Experience: 5+ years of experience in sales, business development, or a related role within the manufacturing sector. Understanding of injection molding or plastics manufacturing is preferred. Sales Knowledge: Understanding of retailer partnerships and marketing mechanisms to identify strategic opportunities to generate new revenue sources. Technical Knowledge: Understanding of manufacturing process capabilities, specifically injection molding, thermoforming, and assembly operations. Strategic Thinking: Proven ability to identify and analyze new business opportunities and align them with existing operational capabilities. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Proactive Attitude: A self-motivated individual with a hunter mentality who can work independently to generate leads and close business. This role is based in the Temecula, CA area and will require a strong presence at the manufacturing facility. The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $106,700.00 - $125,500.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.For remote roles where the final candidate resides in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon or Washington, state required pay thresholds will be factored into base salary. Requirements
