About The Position

We are seeking a sophisticated, driven, and entrepreneurial Opening Sales Manager to lead the sales strategy and revenue generation efforts for a new AC Hotels by Marriott property. This role is instrumental in building awareness, securing key accounts, and driving pre-opening revenue in alignment with AC’s European-inspired, design-forward brand positioning. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced pre-opening environment, understands the nuances of the Marriott sales platform, and has a strong network within the local corporate and group market.

Requirements

  • 3+ years hotel sales experience (Marriott experience strongly preferred)
  • New hotel opening experience highly desirable
  • Proven success in corporate negotiated and group sales
  • Strong understanding of Marriott sales platforms and brand standards
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, and networking skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to build market share from the ground up

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive pre-opening sales and marketing plan
  • Identify and secure foundational corporate, negotiated, and group accounts prior to opening
  • Conduct competitive analysis and market segmentation strategy
  • Collaborate with Revenue Management to establish rate strategy and positioning
  • Proactively prospect and close new business across corporate, group, SMERF, and local segments
  • Build strong relationships with local businesses, chambers, CVB, and community influencers
  • Utilize Marriott sales systems (CI/TY, GXP, MARSHA, etc.) effectively
  • Maintain an active and organized sales pipeline
  • Position the hotel in alignment with AC’s core pillars: modern design, elevated beverage & tapas, and experiential guest service
  • Partner with marketing to develop digital presence, social strategy, and promotional materials
  • Assist in coordinating grand opening events and VIP preview stays
  • Represent the hotel at networking and industry events
  • Achieve pre-opening booking pace and ramp-up targets
  • Prepare weekly sales activity reports and production tracking
  • Contribute to annual budgeting and forecasting
  • Monitor STR reports and competitive set performance
