The Sales Floor Department Supervisor is responsible for leading and enabling a team of associates to deliver an excellent customer experience. This involves coaching, training, delegating tasks, managing performance, and ensuring adequate department coverage. Supervisors engage in both customer-facing activities, such as greeting customers, identifying solutions, and closing sales, and non-customer-facing activities like down stocking, inventory management, and area recovery. They also play a crucial role in maintaining store safety by conducting safety walks, reporting hazards, and ensuring adherence to safety guidelines. The supervisor collaborates with leadership to implement best practices for sales and service objectives and communicates these to the team. This role requires supervising associates across different departments, necessitating broad product knowledge. Effective upward communication to management regarding concerns, issues, praises, and morale is essential. Additionally, the supervisor may occasionally open or close the store or serve as manager-on-duty (MOD).
