The Sales Engineering Manager will provide leadership, direction and guidance to the Sales Engineering department. Supervise the process of design and quoting for any engineered products sold through Hose Master. Manage and develop departmental processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Educate others in Sales Engineering and other departments to help increase their technical knowledge about Hose Master’s product offering. Actively promote the pursuit of engineered solutions to meet the needs of every customer’s technical inquiry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering Management or Business Administration or demonstrated equivalent through work experience
  • 10 years minimum industry or relevant management experience
  • Experience in managerial and leadership environments required
  • Project Management experience with reports and schedules
  • Experience with commercial business strategy
  • Strong management and leadership ability.
  • Extensive mechanical and technical proficiency.
  • Effective and detail-oriented project management skills.
  • In depth knowledge of all relevant industry practices and standards.
  • Strong administrative computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office).
  • Proficiency with 3-D CAD & modeling programs (e.g. Solidworks).
  • Computer programming competency preferred (e.g. Visual Basic).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the internal management of Sales Engineering procedural processes.
  • Plan, prioritize and supervise the execution of daily job assignments to ensure timely completion of departmental objectives.
  • Supervise the appropriate assignment and completion of Sales Engineering project work.
  • Accountable for the successful completion of Sales Engineering deliverables.
  • Communicate the Company mission and values to the department.
  • Demonstrate support for company programs through words and actions.
  • Maintain fair and consistent application of all Company policies and procedures.
  • Implement departmental process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Recognize procedural deficiencies and perform necessary duties to correct problems.
  • Hire new engineers as needed to maintain adequate staffing levels.
  • Professionally develop new engineers to promote career enhancement. Resolve personnel issues or conflicts to extent of authority.
  • Interact successfully with customers (both internal and external) to understand technical requirements and resolve issues.
  • Interact successfully with vendors and service providers to understand technical requirements and resolve issues.
  • Complete assigned design and technical development projects independently.
  • Provide interdepartmental Sales Engineering support.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Director of the Sales Engineering Department
