About The Position

The Sales Engineer combines technical expertise with sales skills to sell complex products and/or services. This person is responsible for bridging the gap between the company’s technical offerings and the customer’s needs, providing technical support and demonstrating how the company’s products and/or services can solve the customer’s need requiring knowledge of engineering and cost effectiveness. (Mechanical, electromechanical, electrical, electronic equipment and supplies or services) Shift/Hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 pm. Monday-Friday

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED
  • 2+ years of experience as a sales engineer or in a similar technical sales role.
  • Strong technical background and ability to understand complex technical concepts and effectively communicate them to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and establish strong relationships with customers and internal teams
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify customer needs and propose innovative solutions
  • Self-motivated and target-driven with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and driving revenue growth
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience as a sales engineer or in a similar technical sales role.
  • Familiarity with sales management tools
  • Experience in creating technical content, such as whitepapers
  • Strong negotiation and persuasion skills
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including product development and marketing

Responsibilities

  • Must have a deep understanding of the products and/or services they are selling, including technical specifications, functionality, and applications.
  • Seeks out and works with customers (representatives at commercial, industrial, etc) to understand their technical requirements, challenges, and business goals
  • Develop and propose technical solutions that meet the customer’s needs, potentially customizing products or services.
  • Reviews blueprints, plans and other customer documents to develop and prepare cost estimates or projects, and increase in production from clients’ use of proposed equipment or services.
  • Deliver technical presentation and product demonstrations to explain the value proposition and showcase how the product solves the customer’s problems
  • Provide ongoing technical support, answering technical questions and resolving issues ensuring customer satisfaction and addressing issues.
  • May assist with the technical aspects of contract negotiations, drawing up sales or service contracts for products or services, ensuring that contract terms align with the proposed solutions
  • May provide technical training to employees of clients.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and competitor offerings to better understand the market landscape.
  • This position will require travel up to 40%.
