The Sales Engineer role operates at the intersection of sales and engineering, requiring the ability to articulate technology and product positioning to executive, business, and technical audiences. Sales Engineers serve as the primary technical support for the sales force, managing the technology evaluation phase of the sales process, ensuring customer success, and collaborating with sales counterparts to foster commercial relationships. This role involves delivering world-class presentations and demonstrations of the platform, assisting customers in debugging common errors, connecting business challenges to technical solutions, and driving complex technical engagements to demonstrate the value of Harness solutions.

Requirements

  • Able to articulate technology and product positioning at the executive, business and technical levels
  • Actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process
  • Ensuring success with all Harness customers and strategizing with their sales counterparts to steer customers to a commercial relationship
  • World class presentation skills in delivering presentations/demos of our platform
  • Able to work with customers directly to debug common errors
  • Ability to tie business problems to technical solutions
  • Capable of understanding and articulating technology value propositions
  • Driving complex technical engagements with customers to prove the value of Harness solutions
  • Either actively develop software, have a prior background as a developer, or worked with developers in a DevOps role
  • Strong cloud knowledge, you worked with infrastructure automation such as Terraform
  • Able to travel throughout a sales territory with minimal restrictions and occasionally on short notice
  • A valid authorization to work in the U.S. is required

Responsibilities

  • Delivering a great product demonstration which tells a story of how our software provides value to our customer
  • Representing the product to customers and at field events such as conferences, seminars, etc.
  • Remaining knowledgeable and up-to-date on changes and developments on our technologies
  • Responding to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
  • Conveying customer requirements to Engineering teams
