About The Position

Energy Management and Control Services, Inc. (EMC Services), an EMCOR Group company, is seeking a highly motivated Sales Engineer to join our team and drive sales for new construction, service and retrofit opportunities in Cranston, RI. As a Sales Engineer, under the direction of the Sales Manager, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing customers to identify the scope of work, provide solutions and close sales. Prior experience working for a control contractor with any manufacturer’s control system is required.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of previous sales experience and a proven track record of sales with building management and control systems
  • Fluent in MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Visio and AutoCad and ability to read construction and control drawings
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills
  • Ability to work independently and also as part of a team
  • Willingness to work in the office in Cranston, RI as well as at customer sites throughout RI and MA

Responsibilities

  • Identify, target, and recommend potential opportunities.
  • Arrange meetings, initiate sales momentum, and collect necessary information to build estimates and proposals using standardized tools and procedures .
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key Consulting Engineers, Mechanical Contractors and Building Owners with the intent to sell and grow our Building Management Systems business and for writing Control Specifications leading to potential opportunities.
  • Conduct technical presentations (lunch and learns) to perspective clients, consulting engineers, and contractors.
  • Attend pre-bid project meetings, walkthroughs and client meetings to assess project requirements. Estimate and develop proposals for highly technical control projects that the Sales Manager deems as having the requisite potential.
  • Work with and negotiate with EMC Services vetted electrical sub-contractors for control installation and wring estimates. This includes other vendors providing sub-contract services on projects.
  • Ensure all EMCOR and EMC Services internal processes are adhered to, from booking new projects, turnover to operations and assisting with collections when needed.
  • Collaborate internally with Management, Operations, Engineering and the Service team to ensure 100% customer satisfaction. Work with the highest level of integrity and sense or urgency to fulfil customer’s requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a cooperative working relationship with the coworkers, clients, subcontractors and other trade contractors.
  • Engage and work with the Service Manager to sell service contracts on new accounts.
