Sales Development Program Sales Associate

United RentalsMiami, FL
Onsite

About The Position

As a Sales Associate on the General Rentals team at United Rentals, you will embark on a structured Sales Development Program (SDP) designed to prepare you for a future role as an Outside Sales Representative. This program typically spans 4-6 months, with the timeline dependent on market conditions and individual performance. You will work alongside industry experts to gain hands-on experience with technical products and develop relationship-building skills crucial for customer success. The training begins at a local branch, where you will shadow both sales and operational roles to gain a comprehensive understanding of the equipment-rental lifecycle. You will also participate in a digital onboarding class with peers across North America to sharpen your sales technique and build a strong internal support network. The program involves progressing through various outbound sales campaigns, exposing you to different construction verticals, customer spend levels, general vs. specialty equipment rentals, and both new and existing customer segments. You will master key United Rentals sales tools, including CRM, inventory management platforms, customer portal, and mobile applications. The role includes leading high-level sales conversations involving price negotiations, multi-piece rental requests, government and educational collective agreements, equipment service contracts, and the sale of used equipment. You will learn proven sales methodologies to deliver solutions for customers and drive revenue growth. Additionally, you will participate in local team initiatives such as daily safety huddles, customer appreciation events, equipment yard sale events, customer entertainment outings, charity drives, and 1UR internal team-building workshops. Your progress will be tracked through multiple achievement levels, with access to real-time sales performance metrics and weekly peer-ranked competitions. You will receive daily feedback from corporate and local leadership meetings, call coaching sessions, and ride-alongs to local jobsites, where you will drive engagement by developing sales strategies for your accounts and creating realistic timelines to achieve your goals.
