This is a non-exempt, non-benefitted, part-time (16 hours/week) position. Working both weekend days and holidays will be expected. The Sales Associate I provides outstanding visitor service and orientation to visitors from around the world; sells interpretive merchandise, apparel, books, souvenirs, and other retail items unique to each location, restocks items sold and maintains visual merchandising standards, assists with inventory management, operates the POS system, and handles cash and other forms of payment efficiently and accurately. These duties as well as others will be carried out under the direction of Managers, Team Leads, and Sales Associate II’s. The Sales Associate I will always be professional, friendly, and helpful while engaging with visitors and connecting them to our parks. The Sales Associate I will become familiar with the Golden Gate National Parks and the programs, initiatives, and volunteer opportunities of the National Park Service, Presidio Trust, and Parks Conservancy. Sales Associates will help visitors to navigate our Parks as part of visits to other popular San Francisco and the Bay Area attractions, deepening the visitor experience and encouraging them to connect to the Parks whenever they visit San Francisco, broadening the community of those who value, enjoy, and protect our Parks for future generations and working towards our vision of Parks For All Forever. Towards this end, Sales Associates will explain the value and benefits of a Parks Conservancy membership and ask for donations at the Point of Sale as part of our “round-up” program.
