About The Position

Work as a member of the Lurvey Garden Center Sales Team to provide our customers with outstanding service. Assist our customers with problem solving, design ideas, product selection and needs pertaining to our hardscape inventory. Abide by and model – EVERYBODY SERVES!

Strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to discern customer needs and direct them in the purchasing process.
Ability to complete tasks in the appropriate time frame and respond to requests in a timely fashion.
Knowledge of business and other applicable computer-based resources.
Skilled in MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and ability to learn Lurvey’s proprietary program (Counterpoint) for creating documents (e.g., quotes) and sharing same with internal staff and customers.
Close visual acuity required to perform computer work, read small print and visually inspect items.
Ability to work in a hazardous environment, keeping safety top of mind for yourself and the customer, under the following conditions: moving vehicles and mechanical parts, fumes, odors, dust, gases or poor ventilation from vehicle, truck and forklift equipment.
Ability to work outdoors and be subject to any combination of extreme temperatures (i.e., heat or cold), high humidity or other adverse conditions.
Ability to stand for sustained periods of time and walking long distances within Lurvey’s materials yard.
Ability to assist or coordinate with yard crew and loaders to pull materials that may require climbing, balancing, lifting, bending, pushing or pulling in a manner consistent with safety guidelines as established by OSHA.
Minimum Associates Degree or equivalent experience in landscape design, installation and/or construction techniques and principles.

Nice To Haves

Ability to perform the following physical activities a plus:
Exerting up to 100 lbs. occasionally, 50 lbs. frequently and up to 20 lbs. constantly
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Experience in a sales environment a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist customers with selection of hardscape materials; (i.e., natural stone, concrete, clay); landscape lighting; drainage and other outdoor living products to meet their project needs.
Knowledge of and ability to communicate installation requirements of selected materials and calculate material requirements necessary in order to produce quotes for customers.
Familiarize yourself with hardscape materials, landscape lighting and drainage materials available as well as materials and services available in other Lurvey departments.
Ability to communicate with Hardscape Supervisor and other Lurvey departments in a clear and professional manner in order to facilitate customer needs.
Create quotes and as needed, fabrication drawings to accompany quotes for customer approval and order placement.
Provide accurate and timely responses to questions regarding hardscape products and services to walk-in and phone inquiries.
Communicate via email and/or phone with customers regarding their inquiries, purchases, installations and deliveries.
Follow up and track status on quotes and sales in appropriate on-line department folders and file systems.
Ability to multi-task assisting customers and maintain a visible presence in the hardscape display areas.
Partner with contractors to guide their clients in hardscape product selections and order samples.
Assist the Landscape Supply Sales team as needed.
