About The Position

This role is a hybrid position overseeing sales activity associated with customers, suppliers (product sourcing), logistics and will be the lead person on Nogales in the area of sales and purchasing. Additional areas include ; direct sales to customers, assist sales team with sourcing, local purchases for contracts and short buys, assist with growing communication and markets (from the field/ packinghouse and local Nogales “happenings”). Must be “local” to the Nogales area with established relationships with produce companies in the region. This role is ideal for a strategic, self-starter who displays initiative , hands-on sales professional with a strong background in produce and experience managing national retail and foodservice accounts. The successful candidate will blend field-level understanding with strategic foresight, representing this company as the lead person in the Nogales Operation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6-years of sales and purchasing experience leadership in key Produce categories (chilies, hard vegetables, tomatoes, and peppers…)
  • A track record managing retail and/or foodservice accounts (book of business/ existing customer contacts is a plus).
  • Knowledge of the Nogales marketplace (relationships and knowledgeable of who sells what) west coast retail and foodservice marketplace (with existing contacts preferred).
  • Experience with pricing strategy, volume forecasting, and contract negotiation.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership As a Member of the Management Team, this position will involve strategic objectives of Nogales location overall business.
  • Oversee the sales and purchasing activity associated with the Nogales location including people, product and administration of transactions.
  • Manage national and regional customer accounts, ensuring margin and service levels are met.
  • Negotiate multi-week, seasonal, and annual programs ( agreements) with customers and/or suppliers.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities across retail, food service , and processing channels.
  • Support in-house initiatives associated with Operations, 3PL programs, and various coordination with Los Angeles.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, customer meetings, and industry events.
  • Understand industry direction and market activity to position Produce with strategic daily and longer-term direction for Nogales related items.
  • Monitor and report on competitive pricing, demand trends, and customer activity.
  • Recommend tactical and strategic adjustments to maximize category performance.
  • Key communicator on market activity regarding key Nogales related product categories.
  • Work closely with all Produce sales, operations, purchasing, grower development, logistics, and accounting teams to ensure communication and follow-up in all applicable areas.
  • Be the area expert on Nogales activity (what is happening around town) and lead person representing Produce as the local “face” of the company.
