About The Position

This role supports the organization’s safety and compliance efforts by helping ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local health and safety regulations. The position assists with risk assessments, accident and near-miss investigations, safety training, and job hazard analyses while working closely with supervisors, safety committees, and employees. Responsibilities also include supporting emergency response efforts, evaluating safety equipment and PPE, conducting inspections and ergonomic assessments, and staying current on evolving safety standards and best practices to maintain a safe, compliant workplace.   YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 18 TO WORK AT TRIUMPH FOODS. Requirements

  • 1 year of experience (including internships), preferably in the meat industry.
  • Ability to communicate and assist with Safety policies and programs.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to handle tough situations with ease and influence.
  • Ability to work various shifts to meet the needs of the business.
  • Participate as a member of the Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) Response Team.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Make multiple visits all production areas of the plant.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to move about the facility.
  • The employee must sit; use hands to finger; handle or feel/hold objects; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; speak, hear, taste, and smell.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and platforms and wear all safety equipment.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a safety program participant is a plus but not required.
  • A four-year degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field is a plus.
  • Member of HazMat Team and Confined Space Rescue Team.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local legislation and health and safety codes.
  • Assessing risk potential across the organization and ensuring proper signage, guarding, and protection measures are in place.
  • Support and assist in conducting accident investigations.
  • Assist with job hazard analysis and ergonomic assessments.
  • Assist with and conduct PIT Training, evaluations, and inspections. Includes necessary trainer qualifications.
  • Participating in or assisting Safety Committee members, supervisors, and/or generals, including safety walks and SORs.
  • Assisting with compliance training for all employees and ensuring delivery to keep the facility compliant.
  • Working with others to evaluate new safety equipment and management of necessary PPE.
  • Responding and providing assistance to all emergency situations.
  • Keeping up-to-date on new safety methods and procedures to applicable codes and regulations.
  • Assist with investigation for Near Miss and Accidents.
