About The Position

Overview: Fulltime, benefits eligible role Day shift hours Certifications can be obtained with in 1 year of hire date Job Description Summary: Conducts safety inspections and trainings to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with all safety standards and regulations. Job Description: Essential Functions: Conducts regular safety inspections of the facilities and safety equipment to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance. Oversees general safety programs, collects and analyzes statistical data on safety, and ensures accurate documentation is maintained. Coordinates and conducts staff and volunteer training on safety protocols and emergency procedures. Advises staff on safety compliance and assists with any questions or issues. Escalates violations and non-compliance to appropriate leadership. Coordinates the performance of fire, abduction and tornado drills for main campus and off-site locations.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Healthcare Safety, Environmental Safety, Fire Science, related field, equivalent professional experience in lieu of a formal degree, required.
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy and position-specific requirements.
  • Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.
  • Certification in fire fighting methodology by the City of Columbus, required within one year of hire.
  • Certification in OSHA, Joint Commission and other hospital and industry related regulatory agencies, required within one year of hire.
  • Certification in Operations or Trainer level HazMat qualification, required within one year of hire.
  • Certification in Hazardous Material Handling and related USDOT regulations, required within one year of hire.
  • Working knowledge of Ohio buildings codes, Joint Commission, OSHA, and the Ohio Fire Code.
  • Working knowledge of ergonomics and body mechanics.
  • Working knowledge of disaster response protocols.
  • Four years of experience in healthcare safety or related field, required.
