About The Position

In this role you will assist in ensuring the facility’s compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and Therma Tru EHS standards. The successful candidate will be expected to adhere to established operational procedures and standard work to assist facility managers to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate standards. Physical Demands: Physical demands of performing the duties of this job include, but are not limited to, occasionally lifting/handling up to 50, frequently lifting/handling up to 15, and constantly lifting/handling up to 5 pounds. Non-physical Demands: Include, but are not limited to time pressures, frequent change of tasks, irregular work schedule/overtime, multi-tasking, working closely with others as a team, and tedious or exacting work. Work Environment: While performing duties of this job, the associate will work around mechanical hazards, noise, and/or vibration daily, as well as be exposed to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, and being outdoors seasonally. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must possess valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Two years’ experience in an EHS-related role preferred, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
  • Candidate will either possess or be willing to obtain RCRA and DOT training certifications as well as becoming a certified PIT operator
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as proficiency in MS-Office
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills

Responsibilities

  • EHS Representation: Candidate will be responsible for coordinating with multiple groups in the facility and represent Safety in a positive light. The candidate will be dealing with Operations, Maintenance, Contractors, including security personnel, TT associates and others daily and must be prepared to represent the organization in a professional manner. The ability to forge strong working relationships with different groups will be required for the candidate to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Hazardous Waste Program Assistance: Candidate will assist in coordinating waste programs to ensure waste materials are appropriately managed in compliance with all applicable regulatory and corporate requirements. Specific tasks will include conducting 90 Day and Satellite Area audits, moving full drums of waste with a forklift as well as replenishing locations with empty drums.
  • Incident Response: Candidate will be responsible for coordinating with external emergency response personnel (911), Operations, Security, Plant First Responders, and Maintenance groups in the event of an EHS-related incident. Incidents can include work-related injuries, personal medical events, fires, severe weather, workplace violence, spills, etc. This may include assisting in transportation of associates in rare occasions.
  • Incident Reviews: Candidate will coordinate with others in conducting incident reviews. Skills in problem-solving and root cause analysis will be beneficial.
  • Learning Teams: Candidate will coordinate and participate in Learning Teams for a variety of topics. These will include both proactive and reactive Learning Teams.
  • Safety Committees: Candidate will participate in the plant Safety Committees. Candidate will be responsible for promoting the committee on their respective shifts, driving participation, and following up on committee initiatives.
  • Kamishibai Program: Candidate will participate in our Kamishibai safety program on their respective shifts.
  • Inspections: Candidate will perform routine inspections of EHS-related equipment and areas, including Eye Wash & Showers, Fire Extinguishers, Spill Kits, Haz Waste Cage & Satellite Areas, etc.
  • Training & Education: Candidate will be responsible for obtaining EHS-related training. Topics will include PIT, LOTO, RCRA, SPCC, Respiratory Protection, Confined Space, and other topics as needed.
  • Training Administration: Candidate will also be responsible for administering training on a variety of EHS-related topics. Candidate will be responsible for administering Authorized-level training on a variety of topics, in addition to conducting prepared Monthly Safety Training on their respective shifts. Training will be administered to TT associates as well as contractors on a limited basis. Candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate documentation of all training sessions.
  • EHS Improvement Projects: Candidate will be responsible for participating in and completing a variety of EHS projects. Project topics will include Job Hazard Analyses, Machine Guarding, and PPE Assessments, as well as LOTO and Confined Space Procedures development and other project topics as needed.
  • EHS Program Development: Candidate will work actively toward continuous improvement of specific, assigned EHS-related programs including refining or developing standard work for all routine tasks, inspections, reports, as well as refining training programs to drive program consistency and compliance. Additionally, the candidate may be asked to provide support for additional environmental initiatives including SPCC, SWPPP, and Air Permit-related activities.
  • Other: Candidate will be tasked with other duties as assigned.
