We are seeking an Safety Specialist to provide EHS support across our Montana footprint while collaborating with operations leaders & team members to implement and maintain our EHS programs. This opportunity is a key component to a safe, efficient and complaint working enviroment all while championing CHS & regulatory policies and procedures. This role offers a standard M-F schedule with working location flexiblity, and 40%-60% travel expectation. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in Environmental, Health, and/or Safety
  • Ability to climb ladders and operate equipment needed to inspect facilities
  • Ability to work in dusty and adverse and changeable weather conditions

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, EHS, or related field preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 40%-60%
  • Interpersonal relationship and communication skills.
  • Ability to complete OSHA 30-hour training certification program.
  • Agronomy, grain and/or agriculture knowledge preferred.
  • HAZMAT/Propane/Fuels experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge in DOT Driver File experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate compliance with applicable EHS related requirements (federal, state, local, and company).
  • Communicate EHS related requirements and expectations to location personnel to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe work environment.
  • Routinely visit locations in the business units to conduct facility inspections and provide EHS support to operation personnel.
  • Appropriately respond to day-to-day EHS related concerns and events in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Develop and implement EHS related plans, programs, policies, and procedures as needed and appropriate.
  • Conduct effective EHS related training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Serve as the designated Confined Space Trainer for the business unit, delivering compliant, hands-on training to ensure employee competence and safety in all confined space operations.
  • Conduct EHS related audits, workplace inspections, job safety analyses, and maintain detailed recordkeeping.
  • Conduct timely and thorough incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action development.
  • Evaluate EHS performance metrics and collaborate with EHS and operations leadership to develop action plans for continuous improvement.
  • Remain current on applicable EHS related rules and regulations.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed or assigned.
