About The Position

This position is responsible for overall organizational safety. Develops and administers the employee safety and environmental health program and ensures facilities and equipment are all in compliance with OSHA, accreditation and other state and federal standards and regulations. Provides safety education and training to staff as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety Management or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills including reading, writing and the ability to listen effectively
  • Knowledge of state, federal, accreditation and regulatory agency laws and requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Biomedical Equipment minimum 1 year Preferred
  • Safety minimum 2 years Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serves as facility Safety Officer and serves on Safety Committee.
  • Develops, implements and administers safety and environmental health programs.
  • Coordinate’s the organization's emergency preparedness plans.
  • Assists with injury prevention and workers' compensation issues; conducts accident investigations and makes recommendations as needed.
  • Ensures routine inspections, maintenance and repairs are performed on any equipment or systems and logged appropriately; monitors updates on equipment recalls and takes appropriate actions as required.
  • Conducts safety inspections of facilities and equipment testing to ensure compliance with safety and environmental health regulations; develops and monitors interim life safety plans as needed.
  • Provides safety training; develops, implements and critiques safety drills; maintains facility SDS.
  • Assesses the applicability of OSHA requirements and other occupational health and safety rules and regulations; recommends policies and procedures and implements upon approval to ensure compliance.
  • Serves as a resource to Plant Ops Director, other leaders, and staff as necessary.
  • Follows standard precautions and uses equipment safely and appropriately.
  • Completes regularly scheduled work assignments and checks accuracy of own work; assists co-workers when requested.
  • Updates and manages online SDS database and offline copy.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all department data and activities.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in work schedules.
  • Complies with all established safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
