About The Position

Safety Specialist (Associate or Mid-Level) Company: The Boeing Company The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Safety Specialist (Associate or Mid-Level) to join the team in Berkeley, MO and be part of a world-class company. This position will serve as the Safety Specialist for the St. Louis Region. Directly supporting the internal compliance, risk management, and change management throughout the region. Including programs such as F-47, F-15, F/A-18, MQ-25, T-7A, Service Life Management, Weapons (Direct Attack and Cruise Missile Systems) among serval others. A role that enables the Department of Defense and Foreign Military Sales customers to execute their vital national defense missions. Additionally, the Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) team and this role supports the production, maintenance, repair and overhaul of Boeing facilities and assets. The duties for this role included but are not limited to supporting incident investigation, implementation of company safety standards and best practices, and providing information and metrics in support of achieving functional and business goals and objectives through effective project management, interpersonal skills and effective communication both vertically and horizontally within the organization. The selected candidate will be part of developing and promoting a culture of safety where human life and health is valued, it is our belief that all injuries and incidents are preventable, and safety is the key to a strong business. The selected candidate will additionally travel to St. Charles, MO; Hazelwood, MO; and Mascoutah, IL to support business priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 1+ years of experience in Environment, Health and Safety (EHS)
  • 1+ years of experience performing health and safety risk assessments, developing and managing safety programs, and performing audits
  • 1+ years of experience collaborating across functions and organizations
  • Capability to travel 10% of the time
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
  • Displays knowledge of occupational health and safety sciences (e.g., chemistry, radiation physics, toxicology, industrial hygiene, etc.) and environmental engineering principles
  • Displays knowledge of relevant government laws and regulations impacting the functional responsibilities of the occupation
  • Displays knowledge of risk management systems, principles, processes and tools
  • Understands the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area.
  • Displays knowledge of processes used to introduce or change facilities, equipment, materials, products, or processes in order to anticipate and mitigate potential hazards (e.g. specifications, drawings, layouts, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Safety Professional or Certified Safety Professional certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals
  • 3+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience managing projects

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements and monitors occupational health and safety programs and processes
  • Develops and provides training and instructions
  • Evaluates the impact of emerging issues, regulations and legislation to company operations
  • Develops corrective action plan to respond to internal/external audits and inspections
  • Plans and conducts health and safety audits
