GP Strategies Government Solutions has a need for a Safety/Quality Assurance Specialist. This is a full-time, benefitted position onsite at our client site, Chemical Demilitarization Training Facility (CDTF), in Gunpowder, MD. The schedule for the position is Monday - Friday 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Job Overview: Develop, implement, and oversee the CDTF safety and quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, Army and local APG regulations. Key duties include conducting site inspections, identifying hazards, investigating incidents, conducting safety training and promoting a culture of safety and quality to minimize risks, injuries, and liabilities. The CDTF Safety and Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for all safety compliance issues as they apply to CDTF operations. Serves as a technical advisor for the Project Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, engineering, environmental health, industrial hygiene or related science.
  • 40-hour Certified Safety Manager (CSM) course from NASP or OSHA 30-hour training for general industry/construction.
  • Prior experience in a safety-related role (e.g., safety technician, coordinator, or advisor).
  • Strong communication (written/verbal), leadership, training, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Valid state Driver’s License (REAL ID – compliant photo ID) for gaining access to Aberdeen Proving Ground South (Edgewood).

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications desired: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP), alongside deep knowledge of OSHA regulations, risk management, and strong leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the corporate safety program, manage and implement the site-specific safety management plan, subcontractor safety management plan and the site-specific quality manual tailored to the CDTF contract.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, surveillances, surveys and job hazards analysis in support of CDTF operations.
  • Complete near miss incident reporting and OSHA injury reporting.
  • Manage the CDTF safety training program and provide training as necessary for contract personnel and select subcontractors.
  • Provide oversight of the CDTF hazardous materials inventory and manage the associated safety datasheet inventory.
  • Manage the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) program.
  • Provide safety and quality input for the monthly project status report.
  • Perform annual review and update of the safety management plan, safety procedures and quality manual.
  • Oversee performance of subcontractors with respect to quality and safety.
  • Perform quality audits, inspections and surveillances of CDTF operations to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Ensure contract deliverables are delivered by their suspense date.
  • Perform quality review of contract deliverables.
  • Prepare the quarterly contract accomplishment report.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
