The Safety Operations Assistant will assist the South Sioux City site in achieving world-class safety performance through campaigns, training, and monitoring processes. The Safety Operations Assistant position will provide a direct link between management and associate / technician workforce regarding safety. The Safety Operations Assistant overall contribution will support efforts to reduce injuries and achieve the site’s safety goals.

  • Physically capable of operating equipment, working at heights or confined spaces, and performing tasks requiring full range of motion.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in hot/wet environments while wearing appropriate PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example in promoting a strong safety culture and zero-injury mindset.
  • Respond promptly to safety, health, and environmental concerns; assist with incident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, ISO, GMP, and plant safety programs; support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training, new hire EHS orientation, and corporate safety plan presentations.
  • Actively participate in emergency response (CPR, AED, First Aid) and industrial hygiene programs (noise monitoring, respirator fit testing).
  • Conduct safety inspections (LOTO, line breaks, powered vehicles, elevated work) and maintain records for Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
  • Support safety committees, update site safety communications, and review observations and near misses for action.
