About The Position
This project involves the excavation and filling of a power plant ash pond over a one-week duration. The Safety Manager will oversee daily safety operations to ensure compliance with applicable OSHA regulations, site-specific safety plans, and environmental controls related to ash handling and excavation activities. The role requires a strong field presence, working closely with site supervision, equipment operators, and subcontractors to proactively identify hazards and implement corrective actions. Emphasis will be placed on excavation safety, heavy equipment operations, and environmental protection measures within an active power plant setting.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of safety experience
- Background in excavation safety
- Industrial, environmental, and/or power plant experience
- OSHA 30 certification required
- Ability to obtain a TWIC card
- Ability to obtain a CCS card
- Excavation safety
- Hazard recognition
- OSHA compliance
- Incident investigation
- Job hazard analysis
- Field safety leadership
- Environmental awareness
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards
- Strong working knowledge of excavation and trenching safety
- Strong working knowledge of heavy equipment operations

- Ability to apply regulatory requirements in fast-paced, short-duration field assignments

Responsibilities
- Enforce site-specific safety policies and OSHA regulations
