About The Position

Chief Carriers is seeking a Safety Manager to join the Chief team. This position is responsible for building and maintaining a culture of safety that protects our drivers, equipment, freight, and motoring public. This role leads all compliance, training, and risk management functions, while actively engaging with drivers and operations staff to reduce incidents, improve CSA performance, and strengthen accountability. Requirements

  • 5+ years in transportation safety, compliance, or risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations and flatbed-specific securement.
  • Hands-on competency in pre-trip/post-trip inspections and load securement.
  • Strong communication skills; able to engage drivers effectively.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
  • High School Diploma or GED, required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and lead a strong safety-first culture.
  • Ensure compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and state regulations.
  • Oversee safety records, audits, and accident/incident investigations.
  • Administer safety policies, licensing, and regulatory filings.
  • Develop and deliver driver training and safety initiatives.
  • Track and analyze safety performance; address trends and risks.
  • Partner with operations, finance, and leadership on safety matters.
  • Serve as the main contact for external safety-related inquiries.
  • Support recruiting and sales by promoting safety performance.
