About The Position

Leads safety team in a high volume, fast paced plant environment. Responsible for all facets of the day-to-day operations. Serve as front-line management, accountable for all factors related to the functioning of the safety department.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an associate degree in an EHS related field with 3 to 5 years of proven safety management experience in a food production or manufacturing setting.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED trained; other relevant OSHA/EPA training.
  • Good project management, organizational and strong PC skills.
  • Independent, self-starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams with sound decision-making.
  • Passion for people and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with Behavioral Based Safety programs and concepts.
  • Professional EHS related certification or a commitment to become certified in the near future.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that Case Farms’ environmental, health and safety (EHS) procedures and standards are followed.
  • Conduct and lead frequent plant walkdowns with hourly and salaried employees to identify hazardous conditions and address unsafe behaviors.
  • Foster open communication to include listening and relating well to all levels of employees in order to create an open and engaging environment.
  • Lead plant Safety Committees and encourage employee engagement in the improvement process.
  • Manage regulatory compliance including: OSHA, EPA, DOL, WC, Fire Prevention and Loss Control.
  • Measure plant performance including incident trend analysis and implement improvement plans.
  • Participate on EHS audit teams to identify performance improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure delivery of EHS training for new hires, develop new training as needed and organize annual training schedule.
  • Lead incident investigations including "root cause analysis” and implement corrective actions.
  • Responsible for preparing, maintaining, and updating EHS related procedures, manuals and reports.
  • Develops a thorough knowledge of all plant processes and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by management.
