About The Position

Work closely with the Division Manager and Regional Safety Manager to promote a positive safety culture and deliver expected safety results across assigned locations. This role is responsible for safety compliance, training, coaching, and continuous improvement in safe operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a CDL Operator’s License with required endorsements and applicable state or local permits
  • 2–4 years of transportation safety experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal communication, and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of federal and state safety and environmental regulations preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively with operations, training, and maintenance teams
  • Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor with employees, customers, and school partners
  • Perform all job duties safely and in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain detailed records

Responsibilities

  • Safety Leadership & Compliance
  • Demonstrate and promote a safe working environment at all times
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations, company policies, local procedures, and required documentation
  • Analyze safety records, identify trends, and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Conduct facility inspections to evaluate safe work behaviors of all personnel
  • Investigate, document, and report injury and collision claims; cooperate with insurance adjusters as required
  • Training & Development
  • Implement and monitor classroom training programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and company requirements
  • Provide classroom instruction and behind‑the‑wheel training for new and current employees, including certification and skills enhancement training
  • Conduct annual road evaluations and observations for all drivers
  • Ensure all new‑hire evaluations are completed within 10–30 days following certification
  • Establish training schedules and provide guidance to location trainers, ensuring consistent training procedures
  • Conduct regular meetings with trainers to review training issues, collisions, and personal injury trends
  • Documentation & Record Management
  • Initiate and maintain complete training and safety files in compliance with regulations and company policy, including:
  • Behind‑the‑wheel documentation
  • Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs)
  • Driver authorizations
  • Fingerprint cards
  • Final evaluation results
  • Third‑party testing documentation
  • Safety Meetings & School Coordination
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct monthly safety meetings, including topic selection, agenda development, presentation, room setup, notifications, and attendance tracking
  • Follow up with absent employees to ensure make‑up sessions and 100% attendance
  • Monitor and evaluate student loading and unloading procedures
  • Meet with school officials as needed regarding safety concerns
  • Fleet & Facility Support
  • Assist Division Managers and maintenance personnel with fleet inspections, including damage, cleanliness, and safety‑related issues
