Safety Leader — Levy Reporting to the HSEQ Manager Melbourne, Melbourne Olympic Park Join Compass Group Australia and shape the next wave of growth across our sports, leisure, entertainment and workplace dining portfolios. From designing tasty menus to trying out the latest tech, we have tactics that help to deliver once-in-a-lifetime experiences at concerts, sports and events in arenas such as Rod Laver at Melbourne Park. You will be tasked with delivering legendary experiences for the up to three million guests to hundreds of events the park welcomes each year, including the world’s biggest tennis tournament, the Australian Open. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a Safety Leader to support our Melbourne Olympic Park operations – home to world-class events including the iconic Australian Open. The role leads a team of safety professionals aligned with Our Safety Culture by developing and maintaining a safety management system and approach across all levels of the business from team members at site to members of the Australian Leadership Team. Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma in relevant field and/or Certificate IV Work Health and Safety
  • Minimum of 5 years proven track record in leading and improving safe operations including a demonstrated capability in influencing senior leaders of the business to implement the company’s safety standards and procedures
  • Qualifications in incident investigations along with root cause analysis competencies
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and monitoring HSEQ programs in a multi-service environment including food and facilities management
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and HACCP
  • Demonstrated experience strengthening food safety and allergen management preferred
  • Experience in managing inter-relationships across the company and stakeholders including sub-contractors clients and other relevant industry associations and bodies
  • Subcontractor management experience preferred
  • Confidence in using digital platforms
  • Confidence using data and insights to inform decision-making

  • Demonstrated experience strengthening food safety and allergen management preferred
  • Subcontractor management experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the General Manager and department leaders to drive continuous safety improvement
  • Coach leaders at all levels to embed a strong safety culture and lead safety with care and accountability
  • Drive and support processes for identifying, assessing, managing and recording hazards and risks
  • Undertake investigation of incidents to drive a rigorous approach to root cause identification and close out of corrective actions, and ensure the incident management database is maintained
  • Initiate and administer safety improvement, education and achievement/monitoring programs for workplaces within the site
  • Support and maintain company certification to Australian and International standards in accordance with the external HSEQ audit program
  • Develop relationships with clients to demonstrate to them how the company’s operations and programs effectively manage their risk and add commercial value to their operations and business strategy
  • Assist in tender preparations and presentations to customers as required including development of Management Plans
  • Stay up to date with regulatory changes and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders
  • Analyse safety performance metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement. Provide regular reporting to the business
  • Assist with selection, onboarding and management of sub-contracting companies and suppliers
