PG&E Safety & Infrastructure Protection (SIP) Teams provide direct defense of utility infrastructure, conduct safety and prevention, mitigation, and maintenance activities on company properties or rights of way, year-round. In addition, SIP Teams provide safety standby services to PG&E employees performing high-risk work activities. A SIP team is staffed by a SIP Crew Lead and a SIP Technician who operate a PG&E vehicle that meets the minimum capabilities of a Type 6 wildland fire engine. Both the SIP Crew Lead and SIP Technician are represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). PG&E has 48 teams located throughout our service territory in high fire-threat areas. SIP Technicians perform a variety of tasks under the general leadership of a SIP Team Crew Lead. Typical work includes providing emergency first aid at PG&E work sites, conducting PG&E safety inspections, asset protection standby (during “hot work”) at PG&E work sites, mixing and applying retardant to protect PG&E infrastructure, medical response standby services, and other duties as assigned. Available positions are possible at the following locations: Garberville, Mariposa, Lemoore, King City, Grass Valley, Santa Cruz and Angels Camp/Motherlode. These locations may be subject to change due to business needs, but available locations will be in the PG&E service territory. The position is a General Construction position and individuals must be able to travel and transfer to a new headquarters upon request at any time; throughout the entire PG&E service territory with no guarantees as to how long you will be away from home. This is subject to change based on business needs. This classification is represented by IBEW Local 1245, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E. PG&E is providing the hourly rate that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for this position is $35.82 per hour. This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. The wage rate is based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening.
