AECOM Tishman is currently seeking a Health and Safety Supervisor for an ongoing construction project located in midtown Manhattan. This role involves performing complex technical work across a wide range of environmental, health, and safety disciplines to ensure compliance with ES&H standards and federal and state regulatory requirements. The supervisor will maintain expert knowledge of specific government agency requirements, utilize advanced environmental principles, and exercise independent judgment in data analysis and problem resolution. Key responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining safety and health programs, monitoring and preventing workplace hazards, investigating accidents and complaints, and recommending improvements to minimize risks. The position also entails developing and conducting employee training, ensuring emergency preparedness, providing regulatory interpretation and technical advice, preparing reports, and acting as a lead for a team of ES&H specialists or support personnel.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Occupational Safety or related curriculum and 6 years of professional construction safety experience OR AA/AS (US) and 8 years of relevant experience OR HSD/GED and 10 years of relevant experience OR demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid CHST (Construction Health/Safety Technician) OR NYC DOB licensed site safety manager.

  • Confined space entry experience/certification.
  • Experience in civil utility construction projects in New York City.
  • Knowledge of local municipal regulations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
  • Experience with safety reporting and report creation.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the most complex technical work in a wide range of environmental, health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements.

  • Utilizes advanced techniques and diversified knowledge of environmental principles.
  • Uses independent judgment and discretion in data analysis and problem resolution.
  • Develops, implements and maintains safety and health programs, systems and procedures.
  • Monitors and prevents hazards and diseases that could be present in the work area.
  • Investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace.
  • Recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment's to minimize hazards.
  • Develops and conducts employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs.
  • Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
  • Prepares reports and recommends corrective action.
  • Acts as a lead role for a team of ES&H specialists and/or support personnel.
