About The Position

We are continuing to grow! We are currently accepting applications for an upcoming Safety & Environmental Specialist position at our Renton location. Safety & Environmental Specialist Location: Renton, WA Position Execute and improve environmental, health and safety programs to manage risk and comply with regulations. Coordinate and administer environmental, health and safety activities including training, inspections, audits, sampling, and reporting. Communicate with employees, contractors, leadership, and external agencies to convey status and make recommendations for improvement.

Requirements

  • Working Knowledge of environment, health and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA)
  • Experience with state and federal environmental reporting
  • Working knowledge of environmental science principles (air pollution, stormwater pollution, hazardous Waste management, wastewater management)
  • Working knowledge of industrial health and safety principles (ergonomics, machine guarding, fall protection, PPE)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to make decisions which will impact human health and the environment.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a safety or environmental related field from an accredited 4-year university (or equivalent education/experience)
  • 4+ years of experience in EHS in a manufacturing environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with safety and environmental management systems (ISO 14001, 45001)
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing/composite manufacturing
  • Experience with sustainability/environmental governance programs
  • Preferred but not required: RCRA/DOT Hazardous waste certification, ISO 14001/45001 auditor training.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret regulations/requirements and evaluate site processes for compliance.
  • Implement and improve processes as needed to meet regulatory requirements and improve safety/environmental performance.
  • Facilitate regular touchpoints with production, warehouse, and engineering personnel to ensure concerns are addressed, processes are followed, and requirements are met.
  • Inspect and audit manufacturing areas, offices, and warehouses.
  • Facilitate or perform sampling activities as required to ensure safety and prevent pollution.
  • Evaluate new materials and processes for EHS risks and recommend controls.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports.
  • Develop and administer EHS specific training for employees.
  • Respond to incidents and coordinate emergency response and reporting.
  • Conduct accident investigations and root cause analysis for EHS incidents.
  • Perform routine data evaluation for EHS reports and metrics.
  • Schedule and oversee EHS contractors.
  • Track and improve safety and sustainability key performance indicators and evaluate improvement projects.
  • Establish and maintain accurate EHS records.
