About The Position

We are seeking an entry level Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Supervisor to come in and assist with our journey to a world class safety program. We are looking for a forward-thinking self-starter to assist with performing inspections, implementing processes and procedures, monitor their effectiveness, conduct training, be active in safety committee meetings and conduct incident investigations. The ideal candidate would work “2nd Shift”. The candidate perfect for this role will also lead by example when it comes to standards and ensure safety processes follow federal, state and local rules and regulations. The EHS candidate for this role will also have a broad understanding of CFRs 1910 and1926 as well as CFR Titles 40 and 49. This EHS Supervisor role will conduct a serious amount of evening and night safety inspections ensuring our team members and subcontractors are exuding our safety principles. They will be able to communicate effectively via electronic mail, interpret safety trend data and write safety related reports when necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, or other related technical discipline preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in related general industry / construction / transportation EHS role is preferred.
  • OSHA 10-Hr and 30-Hr General Industry Training Certification preferred.
  • OHST / CHST
  • Experience using KPA Learning Management System and Telematics.
  • Strong coaching, collaboration, and networking abilities when it comes to working with other functions/department leaders, contractors, and personnel.
  • Strong technical / analytical skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities and the ability to work in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere.
  • Strong leadership skills, initiative, focus and follow-through skills.
  • Strong computer skills in standard office software programs.
  • Effective organization and planning skills.

  • Possession of a valid Texas Driver’s License and State automobile insurance, and acceptable driving record.
  • Completion of a substance abuse screening upon offer of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect work areas for safety hazards and risks and develop inspection reports.
  • Schedule and conduct Facility Safety Inspections and reports.
  • Develop safety processes when necessary.
  • Communicate with management and employees in a workplace about processes and procedures.
  • Investigate work related incidents.
  • Assist with the completion of incident reports based on investigations.
  • Ensure workplace safety standards meet legal requirements.
  • Be available to assist with workplace incidents.
  • Actively promote & drive the safety vision of a Zero Incident Culture through fostering a Zero Incident Mindset, including but not limited to, employee safety observations, hazard recognition, and other employee engagement activities.
  • Develop, implement and manage policies, procedures, programs and databases consistent with Federal, State and Company requirements.
  • Execute safety-related training curriculum development and presentations associated with company policies, OSHA requirements, new employee safety orientations and routine safety training.
  • Support the site Management of Change process, including safety risk assessment evaluations of new or modified equipment.
  • Manage employee health policies and initiatives, including but not limited to injury management, incident investigations and safety corrective action plans to minimize the effect of injuries on the employee and the company incident rate metrics.
  • Ownership of site contractor management program including but not limited to facilitating contractor participation with site safety requirements, as well as conduct additional contractor safety orientations for shutdowns and outside contract work, as necessary.
  • Respond to corporate HSE requests as necessary.
  • Ensure internal HSE program auditing is performed and confirms compliance and adherence to site standards/procedures.
