About The Position

The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist at Plasman is responsible for ensuring workplace safety and regulatory compliance. The role involves designing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety programs to minimize occupational hazards. You'll collaborate with various teams to foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.

Requirements

  • Post secondary degree or diploma in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field; a combination of education, training and years working experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with EHS management systems and data analysis tools.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective training and collaboration, problem solving and delivering effective solutions to complex EHS issues.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and environmentally sustainable workplace.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Safety Management (e.g., OSHA, CSP) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain comprehensive EHS programs and policies in line with company, local and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate and perform safety training sessions for employees to promote EHS awareness.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to safety standards and environmental laws across the facility.
  • Maintain accurate records of EHS activities, including training sessions and audits.
  • Ensure performance measurement systems, performance evaluation systems, and utilization of Lessons Learned, and best practices are implemented.
  • Personal and associate awareness of all quality and business-related operating systems (ISO/IATF).
