About The Position

SRM Concrete is seeking a Safety & Environmental Manager to join our team. This role will support regional operations while also collaborating with a larger safety and environmental team serving SRM Concrete across 24 states. The Safety & Environmental Manager will play a critical role in promoting a strong culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and regulatory compliance while partnering with operations and leadership both regionally and nationally. Requirements

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with inspection tools, technology, and reporting systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Ability to conduct inspections and carry equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Comfortable with prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Physically able and comfortable visiting and working at concrete plants and mines on a routine basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety & Health, or a related field preferred
  • Five (5) years of related experience in environmental, safety, or risk management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee environmental compliance and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Manage environmental permits and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain working knowledge of: NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) SPCC (Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure) Air permitting for minor and major sources, including general permits for ready-mix concrete facilities
  • Conduct stormwater sampling (quarterly and semi-annual) and submit DMRs.
  • Prepare and submit annual Tier I and Tier II reports.
  • Prepare and maintain SWPPP (Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans).
  • Self-certify SPCC plans where applicable.
  • Maintain proficiency with EPA and regulatory agency online submittal platforms.
  • Maintain records of hazardous waste generation, disposal, and employee exposure to pollutants.
  • Conduct regular inspections of plants, mines, and job sites to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Develop and implement inspection policies, procedures, and routine inspection schedules.
  • Create and implement short- and long-term safety strategies to strengthen a proactive safety culture.
  • Monitor compliance with safety procedures and document findings in detailed inspection reports.
  • Coordinate and manage motor vehicle accident investigations and processes within the assigned region.
  • Coordinate and manage workers’ compensation claims within the assigned region.
  • Ensure material safety data sheets (SDS) are maintained and readily accessible.
  • Develop and implement health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Schedule and conduct employee training on: Emergency response Workplace safety Environmental compliance Regulatory and company-specific requirements
  • Partner with operations and leadership to reinforce best practices and continuous improvement.
