About The Position

Mortenson is currently seeking a Safety Engineer that will be Responsible for implementing Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety program at a project site and ensuring a safe work environment for team members, subcontractors, and visitors to the construction work site. This position offers opportunities at both levels 1 and 2, allowing candidates to apply based on their experience and qualifications. Compensation for this role is determined based on factors such as experience and location. Expected start date is April/May timeframe. VISA Sponsorships are NOT offered for this position. Must be currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status, 0-1, TN, CPT, OPT, etc.). We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time. Thjs is not a remote position. Must be willing to travel anywhere in the U.S. even though we are looking specifically for CO based for this project. When project is completed, you will be asked to go to another project in the U.S. This is not a contract based position. This is not a management level position. Regular rotations home are offered 1X/month for 5 days every 3 weeks. We provide assistance for temporary housing. MUST meet these requirements otherwise application will not be considered: Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in occupational safety, health, or related field preferred OR all of the following 3 requirements: High school diploma and CHST or STS certification by BCSP (OSHA and NCCER are not acceptable to meet this requirement), and OSHA 30 Hour training, and minimum five years of construction experience

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in occupational safety, health, or related field preferred
  • OR High school diploma with CHST or STS certification, OSHA 30 Hour training, and minimum five years of construction experience
  • Current driver’s license
  • Detail-oriented, able to organize and manage multiple project tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety-related software programs
  • Positive, professional attitude and strong customer service skills
  • Ability to interpret and communicate company policies
  • Strong teamwork, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
  • Effective public speaking and presentation skills
  • Effective communication and active listening skills, openness to diverse input and feedback, ability to travel up to 100%
  • Safety Engineer I: The base pay range for this role is $78,800 - $98,500
  • Safety Engineer II: One year of related experience plus above. The base pay range for this role is $81,800 - $110,400

Responsibilities

  • Implement and administer safety program at each worksite, assist in developing site-specific safety activities, conduct safety orientation/training
  • Document and track safety violations, conduct safety audits, analyze safety data, assist with major incident analysis, manage OSHA reporting
  • Review safety submittals, monitor trade partner work plans, assist with onsite injury management, organize safety celebrations, participate in project planning/hazard analysis
  • Provide safety-related information, evaluate industrial hygiene concerns, maintain knowledge of safety standards/regulations, serve as safety resource, attend/chair safety meetings
  • Collaborate with client safety personnel, union representatives, insurance risk engineers, accompany safety/health/OSHA personnel on tours, ensure maintenance of safety equipment, manage PPE and safety budget
  • Build effective relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
