Position Summary The Safety Coordinator provides advanced field safety support by assisting with the implementation of company safety policies, managing project-specific safety documentation, and supporting field leadership in maintaining safe, healthy, and incident-free work environments. This role serves as a critical link between field operations and the Regional Safety Manager, supporting project planning, training, inspections, and incident response while maintaining a strong and consistent field presence.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of construction-related experience
  • OSHA 510 certification (Required)
  • Ability to achieve BCSP CHST certification within 180 days of hire if not already held
  • Strong organizational skills with proficiency in safety documentation and reporting
  • Effective communicator with the ability to appropriately escalate safety concerns
  • Proficiency with computers, mobile devices, and standard office software
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to meet company driving requirements
  • Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with craft personnel, project leadership, senior management, and clients, including delivering presentations on safety topics.
  • Personal Attributes Well-organized, self-motivated, and able to perform duties with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, teamwork, and a positive safety-first attitude in all interactions.
  • Physical Demands Light to moderate physical exertion. Ability to access all areas of active construction sites, including climbing, walking uneven terrain, and prolonged standing.
  • Extensive regional travel required, including regular overnight travel.

Nice To Haves

  • 2–5 years of safety-specific experience (Preferred)
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in occupational or construction safety
  • STS-C, CHST, or other recognized safety certification (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, implementation and enforcement of company safety policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct daily field safety observations and routine inspections to identify existing or potential hazards and verify compliance with safety and risk management requirements.
  • Assist project teams in hazard recognition, mitigation planning, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Support toolbox talks, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and pre-task planning activities.
  • Assist the project team in enforcing safety rules, PPE requirements, and safe work practices.
  • Participate in and support incident and injury investigations, including documentation, root-cause review, and corrective action tracking, under the direction of the Regional Safety Manager or Director of Safety.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation related to regulatory inspections, insurance inquiries, or legal matters, as required.
  • Support project safety planning and assist with the implementation of site-specific safety programs after contract award.
  • Participate in regulatory inspections and site visits (e.g., OSHA, EPA) as required.
  • Support and conduct project-specific safety training and assist employees with assigned training requirements.
  • Gather, manage, and maintain all project-specific safety documentation, including JHAs, permits, logs, training records, and inspection reports.
  • Communicate project safety needs, trends, and concerns to the Regional Safety Manager in a timely and professional manner.
  • Submit complete, accurate, and timely daily safety reports through approved safety management systems.
  • Maintain a positive, professional, and respectful presence with craft personnel, project leadership, and clients.
  • Spend the majority of the workday in the field supporting active construction operations.
  • Represent the company in industry or community safety organizations as assigned.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of safety initiatives or incentive programs as directed.
