Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience identifying and addressing workplace hazards, including incident prevention and safety committee leadership
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA General Industry Regulations required
  • Proficiency with computer operating systems, to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • Passion to continuously build a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop or deliver safety programs and training materials
  • Proven ability to perform safely, build relationships, and convey important safety initiatives across the organization
  • Must be able to work a 12 hour shift, which includes overtime, weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to work an on-call schedule
  • Must be able to work outside under all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold temperatures
  • High School Diploma or GED required

Nice To Haves

  • Overall knowledge of the steel making process is a plus
  • Web based safety management system experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Work to create clear lines of communication between the department management and the Safety Department
  • Assist and support CMC Operations Safety in development and implementation of safety policies, procedures, requirements, and initiatives
  • Continually evaluate tasks to ensure Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) are up to date and implemented
  • Assist operational departments with timely completion of incident investigations and safety compliance.
