About The Position

By leveraging over five decades of manufacturing expertise and employing an extensive technologies portfolio, we design, manufacture, and finish incomparable stock and customized solutions for numerous markets. The Safety Specialist will be responsible for assisting in developing, implementing, and overseeing safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. You will collaborate with various departments to identify and mitigate potential hazards and risks, conduct safety training, and promote a culture of safety awareness.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards.
  • Either a solid educational foundation or years of experience in safety management; ideally, candidates will have both.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field, preferred
  • 2-3 years of experience in safety management within general industry, production, manufacturing, or warehouse settings, preferred.
  • OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer (10- and 30-hour General Industry) is desired
  • Safety certification, such as CSP, ASP, CHST, etc., is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist to develop, review, and update safety policies and procedures to align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Drive the New Hire Safety Orientation Program; overseeing its development, implementation, and continuous improvement to ensure that all new employees receive comprehensive safety training and orientation
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to assess compliance with established safety standards, identify potential hazards and risks, and implement corrective actions to mitigate them.
  • Assist with investigations of accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures or corrective actions as necessary
  • Update and maintain emergency response plans, conduct periodic safety drills, and provide emergency response training to ensure a swift and organized crisis response.
  • Ensure that safety policies are effectively communicated and followed by all employees.
  • Foster a culture of safety awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement within the organization.
  • Perform work observations and coaching to correct unsafe behaviors and promote safe work practices and actions
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant local, state, and federal safety regulations and ensure company compliance.
