The Role The Safety Coordinator works to ensure the safety of employees, subcontractors, and the general public on the project. In addition, the safety professionals help conduct training for project employees and consult with project supervisors to develop safe work plans for all project phases and tasks.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in safety and health or related discipline preferred.
- Entry level or some relevant construction safety experience.
Nice To Haves
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 training preferred
Responsibilities
- Oversee and ensure the safety of employees, subcontractors and general public
- Enforce corporate and project specific safety and health programs as well as federal, state and local safety standards
- Assist in development and coordination of project specific safety program
- Identify potential hazards and provide immediate input, advice, and direction to mitigate hazardous conditions and assure compliance
- Report project specific safety performance and future plans
- Develop, coordinate and implement overall project specific safety programs
- Work closely with field supervision to plan more complex safety aspects of the project construction including critical lifts, hazardous material handling, excavations, etc.
- Develop project specific safety training for jobsite personnel including subcontractors
- Ability to administer first aid and provide incident management onsite
- Ensure all incidents are investigated thoroughly and reported timely
- Conduct site-walks and report project-specific safety performance and future plans
- Working closely with field supervision to plan complex safety aspects of the project construction, including critical lifts, hazardous material handling, fire prevention, and evacuation
