About The Position

Under the general direction of the Manager, Safety & Environmental, this position is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and scheduling of Versant Power’s safety programs, including responsibility for the Versant Contractor Safety Program and use of ISN.  The Safety Coordinator also maintains data on safety training requirements and tracks completion.  The position is also responsible for assisting in the organization and facilitation of safety-related events and programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum five years employment experience in administrative duties preferred.
  • Knowledge preferred of relevant safety regulations, including OSHA, NFPA, and ANSI standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working with Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, Power Point is required.
  • Ability to learn other information systems including SharePoint and SmartSheet.
  • Valid Maine Driver’s License required.
  • Strong customer service skills, over the phone and in person, with customers, vendors and internal departments.
  • Maintains confidentiality with the highest degree of integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the Versant Contractor Safety Program and the process of safety vetting, which would include use of ISN.
  • Leads the scheduling of Safety training programs and events across the Company.
  • Maintains an up-to-date matrix of health/safety-related training requirements for each department within the company.
  • Maintains accurate records of safety inspections, trainings, and incident reports, and prepare regular reports for management review.
  • Assists in the annual planning, scheduling, and completion of the Versant Power Leadership Forums.
  • Delivers safety orientation to new employees.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to the development of safety goals and initiatives.
  • Assists with developing annual department budget, tracking budget, reporting variances, and reviewing and processing invoices.
  • Collaborates with employees in planning, scheduling and organizing internal and external events and meetings related to Safety.
  • Arranges travel and maintains calendar of appointments for department manager and team.
