About The Position

Old Dominion Group Inc., a respected specialty contactor founded in 1981, is seeking an entry level Safety Coordinator who will be boots-on-the-ground safety professional responsible for supporting daily field operations and reinforcing a strong safety culture across active construction sites. This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field crews to ensure compliance with company safety policies, client requirements, and applicable regulatory standards. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being in the field, interacting with crews, and proactively identifying and correcting hazards in real time.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; or a combination of equivalent training, education, and relevant work experience.
  • 0–2 years of construction or safety experience (commercial construction preferred).
  • OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (required).
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to work extended hours as needed.
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and manage time and priorities effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to think critically, problem-solve, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and professional demeanor.
  • Effective team player with a positive, solutions-oriented attitude.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and comfortable using digital reporting tools.
  • Ability to interact professionally and constructively with employees at all levels, supervisors, vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and assist with daily jobsite safety walks and hazard assessments
  • Enforce company safety policies and site-specific safety plans
  • Monitor PPE compliance and proper equipment usage
  • Participate in and help facilitate toolbox talks and safety meetings
  • Assist with incident investigations and documentation
  • Maintain safety logs, inspection reports, and compliance records
  • Coordinate and track safety training for field employees
  • Ensure subcontractor and vendor compliance with site safety requirements
  • Partner with project leadership to proactively address unsafe conditions
  • Support OSHA compliance and assist during safety audits or inspections
