About The Position

Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all health and safety programs within the facility. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, coordinates comprehensive training programs, manages new hire onboarding safety protocols, and leads the plant's ongoing safety culture through regular audits and incident investigations.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and conduct annual CPR training for all management staff.
Manage Hazardous Waste and SDS (Safety Data Sheets) training for all new hires; provide annual refresher training for Technicians and biennial (every 2 years) training for Tenders.
Review Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements with Tenders every 2 years.
Oversee Forklift Licensing and renewals on a 3-year cycle.
Conduct annual reviews and drills for Evacuation Procedures and Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) protocols for Technicians.
Coordinate Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) and Hearing Checks for all new hires, followed by mandatory annual screenings.
Conduct quarterly audits of the Lock Out/Tag Out logbooks to ensure strict compliance.
Lead regular plant-wide safety inspections and behavior-based safety audits to identify and mitigate risks.
Ensure every new employee is integrated into the safety culture by completing the following: Issuance and collection of signed Associate Safety Handbooks. Facilitation of General Safety Rules and "Yellow Sheet" program training. Review and signing of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Beam Hoist safety documentation. Administration and grading of the New Hire Safety Quiz.
Chair the Weekly Safety Meeting to discuss trends, hazards, and updates.
Serve as the Incident Investigation Leader, conducting root-cause analysis for any workplace accidents or near-misses.
Maintain the General Safety Statement and ensure its principles are upheld across the plant.
