About The Position

As the Safety/Continuous Improvement Specialist you’ll be responsible for implementing all facets of the Safety and Continuous Improvement functions. The position will assist the Plant Manager to ensure the facility implements and maintains a safe environment that strives to continuously improve. Assists with and/or facilitates all improvement projects relating to safety, quality and productivity, which lead to a reduction in OIR and DART, an improvement in first-pass quality and a reduction in customer complaints and product waste and an improvement in overall production throughput and efficiency. This position will also be responsible for complying with all safety, health and environmental regulations which will support the strategic business plan of the company. No relocation is available for this opportunity.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and identify trends.
  • Proficiency in continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of safety management systems.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to train and educate employees.
  • Experience in safety management and/or continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards (e.g. OSHA, EPA).
  • 2 or more years of safety experience and 2 or more years of continuous improvement experience in a high-speed distribution or manufacturing environment.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to prioritize.
  • MS Office Suite experience.
  • Experience facilitating training is needed.
  • Ability to develop, track and analyze metrics.
  • Can do attitude, engaging and have a passion for bringing solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong project management is a plus.
  • Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain safety programs and procedures in compliance with the relevant regulation.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses and develop corrective and preventative actions.
  • Lead training programs on safety procedures, emergency response and other relevant topics.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by engaging employees and management in safety initiatives.
  • Identify Opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Lead and facilitate continuous improvement projects, using methodologies like Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Analyze processes, identify bottlenecks, and develop solutions to improve performance.
  • Implement and monitor changes, ensuring that improvements are sustained.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety and continuous improvement.
