This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. This is a full-time, on-site position located at any FirstEnergy location (Greensburg, PA preferred). FirstEnergy takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. In addition, your actual base salary will depend on various factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience. The estimated pay range for this role is $113,050 - $159,600. The pay range for certain locations, including the state of New Jersey, include a 20% differential to account for an increased cost of living, making the pay range for NJ $135,660 - $191,520. Summary The Consultant, Safety & Human Performance serves as an enterprise-level contributor responsible for the design, governance, and continuous evolution of FirstEnergy’s Safety Management System (SMS) and related strategic safety frameworks. This role operates as a system architect and integrator, ensuring alignment between regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and operational execution across all business units. The Consultant partners closely with Safety Operations leadership, business unit leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders to enable consistent, high-quality implementation of safety strategy while execution and performance accountability remain with operational and safety leaders. The Consultant, Safety & Human Performance provides leadership from the following perspectives: Design, govern, and continuously improve the enterprise Safety Management System (SMS), including policies, standards, frameworks, and governance processes to ensure clarity, consistency, and sustainability across the organization. Serve as the enterprise architect for safety strategy execution, translating company vision, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices into integrated safety frameworks and implementation guidance. Lead enterprise-level safety initiatives and strategic projects that span multiple business units, ensuring alignment, standardization, and effective integration while execution is owned by business unit and safety operations leaders. Partner with Safety Operations leadership to ensure SMS expectations, tools, and governance models support effective field execution and measurable risk reduction. Provide expert advisory support to senior leadership by synthesizing safety performance data, trends, and systemic risk insights into actionable, enterprise-level recommendations. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Operations, Workforce Development, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, and industry peers, to strengthen enterprise safety capability. Conduct industry benchmarking and external engagement to identify emerging risks, best practices, and opportunities for continuous improvement within FirstEnergy’s safety programs. Support the development and oversight of departmental budgets related to enterprise safety initiatives, tools, and programs.
