About The Position

Pappas Restaurants is seeking a Safety Specialist to join the Main office based in Northwest Houston. In this role, you will be responsible for providing safety assessments and implementation of safety strategies for both Pappas Support Service Teams (PSST) and Pappas Restaurant locations.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant safety experience, preferably in a construction, maintenance, service industry
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA Laws and Regulations
  • Detail oriented, self-starter and capable of working with little supervision
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication
  • Ability to travel in and out of state
  • Ability to travel locally (Houston area) using personal vehicle
  • A valid Texas driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to stand for 8 hours and negotiate the work area during site/ facility visits including but not limited to occasional lifting, stooping, squatting, and climbing ladders
  • Physical requirements are the ability to perform a manual data input function for up to 50% of an 8 hour day on regular basis.
  • This position requires a focused individual in order to achieve success.
  • Must be able to multi-task with good organizational and project skills.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Performing routine safety inspections on equipment, facilities, and systems
  • Analyzing processes and procedures and identifying potential risk
  • Developing, monitoring, and evaluating the effectiveness of safety programs and policies
  • Providing recommendations for safety improvements in PSST and restaurant operations
  • Investigating safety incidents and accidents, determining causes, and suggesting corrective actions
  • Creating, implementing, and enforcing safety training programs
  • Collaborating with management to develop safety policies and procedures
  • Maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules
  • Preparing safety reports, documenting incidents, and presenting findings to management
  • Keeping abreast of new safety and industry developments that could impact the organization
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
