About The Position

LINCOLN PARK PUBLIC SCHOOLS 1650 Champaign Lincoln Park, Michigan 48146 ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY 2025 -2026 School Year POSITION: Safety and Truancy Officer QUALIFICATIONS: Post-Secondary Education preferred Excellent communication skills necessary Knowledge and experience with a computer (Google Drive, Word) Able to work independently and self-directed Ability to work effectively with diverse personnel including, administrators, instructional and non-instructional staff, and vendors Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education and/or Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable DUTIES: Develop, implement, and monitor district safety and security policies, procedures, and protocols. Conduct ongoing reviews of district operations to assess safety needs and recommend improvements. Oversee districtwide access control systems, key distribution, safety equipment, and building security upgrades in coordination with appropriate departments. Conduct annual safety, security, and emergency preparedness assessments of all school and support facilities. Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions. Plan, schedule, and facilitate emergency drills, including fire, lockdown, shelter-in-place, and evacuation procedures per the district Emergency Operations Plan. Maintain documentation of drills and ensure compliance with state requirements. Coordinate district emergency planning with School Resource Officer (SRO) personnel, local law enforcement, fire service, and emergency management agencies. Maintain and update Standard Emergency Operating Procedures, safety manuals, and district safety communication materials. Conduct routine walk-throughs of district buildings to identify safety concerns and partner with administrators to address them promptly. Support risk management processes and help identify and mitigate conditions that may lead to student, staff, or visitor injury. Supervise assigned safety and security personnel, ensuring compliance with district policies, schedules, and performance expectations. Issue truancy citations to parents or guardians when appropriate. Complete all required follow-up, including communication with families and appearances in local court when required.
