About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Director of Administrative Services, the Safety & Security Supervisor oversees, implements, and maintains Safety and Security programs for Wingspan Care Group and its affiliate agencies including, but not limited to, life safety, emergency management, and fleet management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Skills: Sensitivity in relating to persons of varying backgrounds and demonstrate ability to work with diverse groups of people possessing various strengths, aptitudes and abilities.
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using Agency computer systems and software as required to perform essential job functions.
  • Practical and creative problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall safety and security of all Wingspan Care Group and affiliate properties.
  • Carries pager and/or Agency cell phone and is on-call and responds to night security calls.
  • Conducts and documents bimonthly security and safety in-services for new employees and annual security and safety recertification classes for employees, plus other staff training as necessary.
  • Conducts and documents fire, tornado and lock-down drills.
  • Provides oversight to the Safety Warden program.
  • Develop and conduct training for Safety Wardens to enhance overall safety programs.
  • Supervises Shaker Heights campus switchboard operators.
  • Responsible for overseeing contract security guard programs including vendor relationships.
  • Establish relationships with local law enforcement and first responders to prepare affiliate agencies for emergency management situations.
  • Act as liaison with local law enforcement and first responders in the event of an actual emergency.
  • Develop disaster preparedness and emergency management plans for all agencies and develop training programs for employees on how to respond in an emergency.
  • Serve as a member of the Environment of Care Committee and other committees as assigned.
  • Oversee development and implementation of Ohio Department of Education school safety and emergency management plans for all school programs that are in compliance with ODE rules and regulations.
  • Maintain all required documentation required for school safety programs.
  • Responsible for making sure life safety systems, fire extinguishers, alarm systems, sprinklers, egress systems, camera systems, access controls, locks, etc. are in working order through regular inspections and maintenance.
  • Works with local fire department personnel and vendor personnel to assure all systems pass all necessary inspections.
  • Act as Fleet Manager by purchasing and maintaining agency vehicles.
  • Develop and implement safe driver program for all agency drivers.
  • Assist in documentation of agency vehicle accidents.
  • All documentation must be maintained in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
  • Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment.
  • All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training.
  • All required trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
  • Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
