About The Position

The Safety, Quality and Training Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all training and quality control activities the area they are assigned to. This role focuses on ensuring that employees are adequately trained and proficient in their roles and that the products or services they provide meet established quality standards, along with ensuring that associates are complying with safety standards.

  • Expert knowledge of auto glass repair, replacement, and recalibration procedures.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance, safety, and ergonomic best practices.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in using incident management, training and quality management software and tools (NovoEd and Origami)
  • Willingness to travel within the district or region up to 50% of the time.
  • Ability to work at a physical retail location within the region.
  • Ability to operate a company vehicle safely and courteously, adhering to all Company policies and procedures relating to safety. This includes obeying all traffic laws and regulations and maintaining a valid driver’s license with a driving record that falls within the Company requirements.
  • Ability to satisfy all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements as outlined in the Field Supplemental Handbook, while in the warehouse, visiting stores, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the Safelite Way of Fitting (SWoF) and Safelite tools.
  • Deliver training programs and materials utilizing SafeTech Academy curriculum to onboard new technicians and develop employee skills, knowledge, and performance for all aspects of auto glass repair, replacement, and recalibrations.
  • Conduct training sessions, workshops, and seminars for technicians at various locations within the district.
  • Provide continuing education utilizing the TAD (Technician Assessment Database) for existing technicians and repair specialists to ensure compliance with installation and repair.
  • Responsible for assessing and certifying both new technician trainees and newly acquired technicians on Repair, Replacement, and Recalibration.
  • Educate all store managers on SWoF so they can effectively lead and coach their direct reports, be a continuous resource to store managers on technical issues utilizing installation/repair KPIs.
  • Assess training needs and create individual development plans for technicians.
  • Support Train the Trainer for new District Training & Quality Manager peers.
  • Roll out and lead the implementation of, including but not limited to, new processes, products and tools for repair, replacement, and recalibration.
  • Responsible for updating the district on changes for new and existing processes for repair, replacement, and recalibration. Provide ongoing coaching and training to skill up existing technicians when new requirements, tools, or technologies are introduced.
  • Support the implementation of Vital Information and Fitting Instructions.
  • Establish and maintain quality control standards for products, services, and processes within the district.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of work delivered by technicians and provide feedback and coaching as needed.
  • Identify and address quality issues and take corrective actions to resolve them.
  • Partner with district leadership to provide technical guidance for escalated warranty and casualty loss customer issues.
  • Provide ongoing coaching for certified technicians to address quality issues.
  • Drive district Cost of Quality reduction initiatives.
  • Ensure that associates are trained on safety policies and procedures.
  • Be available to answer safety related questions and provide assistance in fixing hazards.
  • Communicate and implement updates to safety policies and procedures.
  • Lead Safety Committee in partnership with the Safety team.
  • Assist with incident reporting through Origami.
  • Coach associates who are not adhering to safety practices.
  • Help drive root cause analysis in partnership with the Safety team when incidents occur.
  • Ensure that all associates adhere to company policies, procedures, and industry regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with SafeTech Academy certifications and Installation and Repair Compliance Agreements.
  • Conduct audits and assessments to verify compliance and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and achievements to senior management.
  • Collaborate with district and regional managers to align training and quality initiatives with overall business objectives.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and improve operational efficiency.
  • Lead by example, practicing safe behaviors and holding those around you to high levels of quality.
