About The Position

The Housing Navigator is a position created in collaboration with SAFE Alliance, will work with referred families in applying for housing program, and seek housing placement. In addition, the HIPN will manage housing calls, aid survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault with services and resources, review housing applications, communicate with property staff about unit availability, and reach out to other housing services providers to ask about unit availability. The Housing Navigator reports to the Housing Placement Manager. Must be bilingual in Spanish and English.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year of social service experience or the educational equivalent
  • Required - Bilingual Spanish – spoken and written

Responsibilities

  • Help survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault; identify sources of assistance and access services from other social service agencies, as necessary.
  • Manage general housing calls coming into Foundation Communities and refer out to FC (Foundation Communities) properties when appropriate.
  • Track all calls, emails, and visits with detailed information about the call and information provided.
  • Provide crisis intervention and referral services for domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Connect survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault to SAFE, as needed.
  • Outreach and build relationships with other homeless services and affordable housing providers in the community to maintain up-to-date eligibility and availability information for alternative housing options.
  • Review housing applications and communicate with families regarding eligibility, application status, and requesting additional documentation as needed.
  • Interpret and translate services provided to applicants of housing and intake program services.
  • Update and catalog wrap-around services provided by Foundation Communities as well as community resources
  • Create and maintain Resource Kits
  • Stock outreach materials and CHI applications
  • Other duties as assigned.
