About The Position

Your role at BHSN: The Safe Dwelling Coordinator is charged with the primary tasks of coordinating services for clients in all safe dwellings operated by the program, maintaining the facilities, and providing direct services for victims of domestic and sexual violence. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm, Approximately 6-8 weeks of on-call coverage per year What’s in it for you? Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Valid NYS or other State driver’s license
  • Reliable transportation for travel required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree in Human Services related field preferred.
  • One year experience in social services setting preferred; working as an employee or volunteer in domestic violence and/or sexual assault victim services

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing services to individuals in safe dwellings as deemed appropriate
  • Act as liaison with DSS and community housing agencies
  • Maintain safe dwelling per OCFS and program standards regarding safety, organization, and cleanliness
  • Provide on-going services to victims of domestic and sexual violence including, but not limited to, supportive counseling, transportation, advocacy, safety planning, safe housing, child - care , assistance filing court petitions as well as compensation claims with the Office of Victim Services, and follow-up to clients as deemed appropriate
  • Update, maintain , and complete program records on the schedule set forth by STOP D S V
  • Participate in back-up coverage to volunteers on the hotline during non-business hours
  • Provide outreach to the community and participate in community events
