About The Position

LSRI Hatchery Student Researcher

Requirements

• Enrolled at a minimum of half-time status at the University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS)
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Willing to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Strong attention to detail
• To be eligible to work over summer months students must be either: Pre-registered (at least half-time) for the upcoming fall semester or Enrolled at a minimum of half-time status in Summer College
• Employment will require a criminal background check.
• A pending criminal charge or conviction will not necessarily disqualify an applicant.

Responsibilities

• Glassware preparation for testing
• Preparation food and water for organism cultures
• Renewal of organism cultures
• Laboratory equipment calibration, use, and/or maintenance
• Preparation of laboratory reagents and standards
• Sampling equipment preparation and maintenance
• Sample collection and analysis
• Data entry and proofing
• Assistance in data analysis and quality assurance
• Conduction of toxicity tests
• Access to laboratory on weekends for culture care
• General lab maintenance
• Record keeping
• Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by individual researchers.
