About The Position

The Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) is excited to offer a competitive opportunity to serve as a Rural Health Project Manager. The selected competitive candidate will provide exceptional delivery of services to the Director's Office. Previous applicants will need to reapply to this position. Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: The Project Manager’s Initiative duties include maintaining the successful operation of activities, coordinating with sub-award grantees, monitoring progress, and ensuring timely completion of deliverables. The incumbent will track project deadlines and make sure they are met; identify, resolve, and/or escalate technical/operational issues as they occur; and ensure efficient execution of grant-funded activities from initiation to closure. The incumbent will also have grant and project management responsibilities by providing oversight and technical assistance to sub-award grantees within the RHT initiatives. This role includes cross functional team collaboration, and coordination with internal departments which focuses on addressing provider shortages by funding rural medical residencies, allied health apprenticeships, and community college programs, and expanding high school pathways into healthcare. This is a restricted position, which is solely funded by the investment of federal grant funds to transform Virginia’s rural health care landscape and improve health outcomes in rural Virginia. Which is a continuous revolving grant. The availability of funding is scheduled for review annually. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of funds. The business needs for this position have in office requirements to include but are not limited to requiring travel overnight (intra- and inter-state) for meetings, conferences and/or trainings several times per year. The incumbent will represent DMAS with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain public and private partnerships to ensure positive program outcomes. Located in beautiful Central Virginia, the Richmond area puts you just 2 hours from the Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia Beach and Washington DC. Requirements

  • Considerable experience managing resources for the successful implementation of projects and/or operation of programs.
  • Considerable experience tracking projects and deadlines.
  • Considerable experience implementating grant-funded initiatives.
  • Considerable experience developing recommendations for leadership.
  • Considerable experience with computer software including Microsoft Office.
  • Considerable experience interpreting and applying federal and state laws/regulations.
  • Considerable experience meeting deadlines.
  • Considerable experience engaging with internal/external stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the areas of focus of the Live Well, Together Initiative and/or the broader Rural Health Transformation program.
  • Experience preparing and presenting grant oversight reports.
